The exhibition Germaine Richier presents more than forty important sculptures from the seminal postwar French artist Germaine Richier. Richier’s sculptures are presented alongside a selection of photographs by Brassaï, who extensively documented the artist’s studio, capturing the dynamic power of her work. This fully illustrated exhibition catalogue is one of the first scholarly studies of the artist’s work published in the United States, featuring original essays by Sarah Wilson and Anna Swinbourne, a new translation of a 1953 text by André Pieyre de Mandiargues, and important archival documents from the Germaine Richier Estate.
